Burghealth Physical Medicine

Do you suffer from minor aches and pains or other ailments that aren’t necessarily debilitating, just a little bothersome? At Burghealth Physical Medicine, we treat all those conditions, even the ones that seem the most insignificant or random. Whether you’re dealing with scar tissue build up, extremity pain, fascial issues, or other miscellaneous condition, our advanced care solutions identify the root cause and offer a proactive solution to remedy the issue before it gets worse.

Scar Tissue: Overused muscles and other soft tissues can lead to a variety of conditions or injuries such as pulls, tears, collisions, micro-trauma, or hypoxia. Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected areas. As this scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on the tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. The result? Reduced range of motion, loss of strength, tingling, numbness, and pain.

Fascia: One of the most overlooked areas of the body that is highly susceptible to injury is the fascia – a network of soft tissues that cover the muscles and link one muscle to the next. Fascia is made up of cells that provide the muscles with an “elastic” quality and create pathways so different muscles can connect. For example, fascia “webbing” connects the calf muscle to the hamstring, the buttocks, and to the back. This connection, in conjunction with nerves and joints, allows the body to create dynamic motions.

TMJ: The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) acts as a hinge between the jawbone and the skull. TMJ disorders occur when damage is done to this joint on either side of the jaw that causes pain in the jaw and the surrounding muscles. Common symptoms of TMJ include headaches, teeth grinding, difficulty chewing or speaking, and pain in the jaw, neck, or ear.

Extremity Pain: Pain and discomfort in the arms or legs can occur in a variety of ways – a pinched nerve from sleeping, a sports injury, a condition that originated from the spine, and many, many more. If you experience chronic pain, this could be an indication of a spinal misalignment which can damage the vertebrae, resulting in discomfort anywhere along the length of your spine.

Other: Pain and discomfort can occur anywhere in the body, and at Burghealth Physical Medicine, we’ve seen it all and treated it all. No matter if the pain is acute or chronic, if left untreated, the condition could become worse and more difficult (and costly!) to treat. Don’t ignore your symptoms, no matter how minor or insignificant they may seem.
